SABIC Innovative Plastics implements PermitCliq in its effort to eliminate accidents
With effect from January 2011, SABIC Innovative Plastics has implemented the PermitCliq electronic permit to work system at all facilities on its Bergen op Zoom and Raamsdonkveer sites.
This follows a successful pilot of the system at the Lexan finishing plant, coupled with the introduction of an improved permit to work process from iBanx HSE, based upon the Deltalinqs standard. PermitCliq is part of Unite, the HSE power suite from iBanx HSE.
The pilot revealed that the new way of working and the use of the PermitCliq offer many advantages. One of the most important of these is the transparency of the new process. Any disruptions show up very quickly, so that such issues as request quality and stagnations can be dealt with immediately. Moreover, a uniform method and better readability have improved permit quality. They are now more complete, and are issued with the correct authorisations. Another key advantage is that their contents can be reused. In other words, previously identified risks and the measures taken in response to them can be included in a new task assignment. As well as creating a process with a greater focus upon safety, this also makes issuing permits during stops more efficient and so reduces the associated queues.
Lexan selected iBanx HSE because of its knowledge and experience of the processing industry, as well as its specific implementation methodology. With the introduction of PermitCliq at SABIC IP, iBanx is making its contribution to safer maintenance and other work, and also to a more efficient process for the generation, issue and monitoring of permits to work.
